Selecta hemp canopy

Our new Selecta Hemp canopy uses renewable natural hemp fibres with a very high degree of resource conservation. The one-piece, floating canopy has a natural ‘straw’ textured surface with a bevelled edge.

Hemp plants are the source for the hemp fibres we use in our canopies. Hemp grows twice a year and thus forms more biomass (bound CO2) faster than wood. Also, due to the fibrous properties of the hemp plant, the canopy offers high acoustic absorption. Above all, our hemp fibre ceiling panel is 100% recyclable. It can go into the material recycling loop at the end of their life cycle.

Selecta Hemp sustainably improves room acoustics. It is available in both a natural finish and twenty varying OWAcolor shades. The colour pigments are added to the fibres during production. But, because hemp is a natural material, colour variations may be visible between the same products.

Global engineering consultancy Cundall were so impressed they installed some in their Belfast office. Andrew Parkin, Cundall’s Global Head of Acoustics, added: “Acoustic canopies have become a mainstay solution in education and workplace settings and we were keen to adopt these new products by OWA in our office refurbishment. Hemp canopies absorb sound across both front and back surfaces, measured by equivalent sound absorption.
