Natura hemp straw tiles

Our new Natura hemp straw tiles combine authentic natural aesthetics with sustainability and design freedom. Made from renewable hemp, Natura contributes positively to the ecological balance while supporting a healthy indoor climate thanks to its diffusion-open structure.

Hemp plants are the source for the hemp straw we use in our ceiling and wall tiles. Hemp grows twice a year and thus forms more biomass (bound CO2) faster than wood. We use the softer fibres for our Selecta hemp canopy, but the courser by-product is not thrown away. Instead, we use the stem straw to produce our hemp tiles. The resource-efficient manufacturing process ensures zero waste, making hemp a circular material. Our hemp tiles are 100% recyclable and can go into the material recycling loop at the end of their life cycle.

With a range of shapes, edge profiles, and colours, Natura offers design flexibility. Enabling architects to deliver unique interiors with a contemporary and natural look. Our sustainable Natura hemp straw tiles will improve room acoustics. They are available in a natural finish and nine varying colours. But, because hemp is a natural material, colour variations may be visible between products.

  • 30mm hemp straw.
  • Carbon negative.
  • Class C sound absorption.
  • Standard shapes: rectangle, square and triangle.
  • Available as a natural straw colour.
  • 9 additional colour shades.
  • 100% recyclable locally.
  • Good sound absorption, preventing sound reverberation.

Benefits over traditional wood wool products are as follows:

  • Cement-free – the product is completely cement-free. Therefore, it’s fully recyclable and easy to dispose of.
  • CO negative – Natura has a CO balance of 1.34 kg CO equivalent per m². With a hemp content of 60%, the product contains twice as many renewable raw materials as comparable wood-based solutions.
  • Raw material base without forestry – hemp residues serve as the base material. No requirement for wood from forestry.
  • Above-average CO binding – due to its very rapid growth, hemp binds more CO per area and year than forest areas of comparable size.
  • High sustainability due to fast raw material cycle – hemp grows to harvest within 3–4 months; wood requires 20 to 80 years, depending on the species. This leads to significantly higher raw material availability and minimizes conflicts of use.
  • Very environmentally friendly cultivation – compared to wood, hemp requires very little water, significantly fewer pesticides, and no fungicide treatment.
  • Regional and annual availability – hemp can be cultivated agriculturally and is therefore available annually. In contrast to long-term forestry production cycles.
  • Zero waste approach – for Natura, we use all residues from the hemp plant, so no additional cultivation is necessary.
  • Excellent moisture-regulating properties – hemp has a pronounced ability to buffer moisture. Thus, it actively contributes to regulating the indoor climate.
