Thank you for signing up to the OWA UK newsletter.
As part of OWA’s ongoing commitment to provide our customers with detailed product information, independently verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for the complete range of mineral ceiling tiles available from OWA UK are now available to download from our website.
These EPDs provide architects, designers, and specifiers with clear, transparent sustainability and life cycle assessment data for many of OWA’s most popular mineral ceiling tiles, including Brillianto, Sandila, Constellation, Sinfonia, and the hygienic Humancare range.
Detailing key environmental impact information such as global warming potential (GWP), energy consumption and water usage, the EPDs offer a comprehensive assessment of each product’s carbon footprint. This enables specifiers to make informed decisions when working to meet stricter building regulations and wider environmental standards such as BREEAM.
OWA’s new EPDs meet EN 15804 standards, which serves as the core Product Category Rules (PCR) for construction products, and have been independently verified according to ISO 14025:2011. The publication of these documents reinforces our commitment to transparency and sustainability across our full product portfolio and builds on OWA’s commitment to ensuring our mineral ceiling tiles are virtually free of harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
OWA manufactures our mineral ceiling tiles using a unique formulation designed to minimise environmental impact and promote healthy indoor spaces. The mineral tiles contain no added formaldehyde or harmful chemical resins, relying instead on organic binders made from starch.
Additionally, we test our mineral ceiling products to ISO 16000 standards for VOC emissions and all comply with BS EN 13964 for suspended ceilings. This includes strict requirements on formaldehyde content, making the range particularly suitable for environments with stringent health and wellbeing demands, such as healthcare and education projects, as well as commercial and public buildings designed to meet the WELL Building Standard.
OWA UK’s managing director, Andrew Smith, said: “The publication of our first set of EPDs for our mineral ceiling tiles is another important step in OWA’s ongoing sustainability journey. We’re committed to helping reduce the environmental impact of our products while supporting our customers to meet their own project sustainability goals. It’s also important to us that we make this information readily available which is why all our EPDs will be available to download directly from our dedicated UK website.”
